Send It Back Jesus: Why I’m Over This Year, and Things to Remember as 2020 Ends.

It’s mid-November and we are still in what can only be described as the Upside Down. At the beginning of this pandemic, my main worry was my lack of motivation to get dressed everyday under lockdown. Now, after almost eight months of being in the middle of this rolling dumpster fire, I can honestly say that I feel overwhelmed.

“Make it make sense Jesus.”

I feel overwhelmed with having to find some type of solid ground in the midst of all of this. At this point it seems like something happens every week. To make matters worse, being an empath has made me highly sensitive to the personal challenges that I have been dealing with, and the emotions of my loved ones as they try to cope with the ups and downs of this year.

“I feel overwhelmed with having to find some type of solid ground in the midst of all of this.”

With the end of 2020 rapidly approaching, I decided to use this week’s post to reiterate some things that may be helpful to anyone who is also feeling overwhelmed.

Remember this:

  • It’s ok to feel upset/sad that you cannot participate in the activities you enjoyed doing before the pandemic.

  • It’s ok if some days are harder than others.

  • It’s ok if some of your goals have been put on hold.

  • It’s ok if your finances are not where you want them to be.

  • It’s ok if you cannot afford a lot this year.

  • It’s ok if some of your relationships have changed/ended during this year.

  • You can still get that job.

  • You can still get that new place.

  • You can still start that new business.

  • You can still complete that degree program.

  • A “no” is still a full sentence even during a pandemic.

  • Your boundaries still matter.

  • Your feelings still matter even though there are “bigger” things going on in the world right now.

  • You determine what you want to direct your energy towards during this time.

  • You are experiencing reality on reality’s terms right now. Thus, it’s ok to feel as though a lot of things are out of your control.

  • You really are trying your best.

  • All of this is temporary.

I know that maybe some of you may be disappointed that this post isn’t fashion-related. However, with the way I have been feeling this year (especially within the last week or so), I felt that it was necessary to try to throw some positivity out there. Maybe you need it. I know that I definitely do.

I’ll see you on the stoop.
